As promised here is the update on the other adventure I have been involved in this last month.
I have been lucky to volunteer for Operation Trackshoe for the last three years. It takes place at the University of Victoria track and this year it was a beautiful sunny couple of days. It is held for people that may be going to the Special Olympics but also for those who enjoy the challenge of track events even though they may have their own "challenges". I have witness so many amazing people overcoming the odds that their body or mind may put on them with so much courage and determination.....it is a fabulous experience. So many high fives and hugs!! Here are a few pictures ......
And everyone gets a ribbon...we give out lots of Blue ones!!!
And the most amazing event is when the caregivers and those in wheel chairs take to the track. EVERYONE gets to participate.
If you ever have an opportunity to volunteer at any "Special" event don't hesitate. It is a very rewarding couple of days and thanks to Marion ( my girlfriend Kathy's sister ) for including me on "Team Allen!"
Cheers from Shelagh in Shwanigan.
P.S. Watch for new cards coming up....I found some time to create after a BIG clean up!!
Wonderful pictures and cheers to you volunteers!!!
